Mike Gillespie started his design career in the summer of 1986 as the first design intern at LITTLE TIKES TOY COMPANY in Hudson, Ohio. In 1988, he interned at BALLY DESIGN in Pittsburgh, Pa. Graduating in 1989 from CARNEGIE MELLON UNIVERSITY, he won the prestigious IDSA Student Merit Award.

After graduation, he was hired by BIG MONSTER TOYS, a toy invention company in Chicago, IL, formerly known as Breslow, Morrison, Terzian. In his first eighteen months, two of his inventions were sold, a game "TORNADO REX" to PARKER BROTHERS which received a mechanical patent, and the "BATMAN SKYBLADE" to KENNER, both of which were manufactured and sold to the domestic and foreign markets.

In time, Mike moved to Houston, TX and started his own business firm, BRITE IDEAS, and invented numerous toys as well as lawn and garden products for HASBRO, FISHER-PRICE, STEP-2, DSI, CALIFORNIA CREATIONS AND REALAID INC, for whom he obtained a patent on a medical product.

Mike does illustrations for sell sheets, reports, renderings, drawings for patents, logos and graphics all on computer, as well as prototyping, product design, and invention development for manufacture in all markets.

Mike has been interviewed on the Internet radio show From Concept To Profit for advice on prototyping basics.

Recently, one of Mike's clients, Ginelle Mills, for whom he provided early development concept drawings a couple of years ago, appeared on SHARK TANK with her "COOL WAZOO" and received an investment by the sharks. The "COOL WAZOO", is a 5-in-1 baby pad that functions as a heat shield for hot car seats and swings, large diaper changing surface, restaurant high chair cover, and grocery cart cover. You can get more information and/or purchase The "COOL WAZOO" at Ginelle's website: "COOL WAZOO".

Scently Pressed is an example of Mike's logo and label design capabilities. This product is a pleasantly scented, non-aerosol liquid spray starch packaged in leak-proof refillable spray bottles that can easily be packed into a suitcase, overnight bag or makeup case.

Mike's latest invention development project to go to market is the MuVi Seat Holster - a smart phone accessory that attaches to most train, automobile, and airplane seatbacks and allows you watch videos, play music, and browse files easily using your iPhone, iPod Touch, Zune, Blackberry, and other similar devices, while keeping your tray and lap area clear. The finished design was done by another company
