"Inventors Helping Inventors"
Since 1983

The Houston Inventors Association and the University of Houston Small Business Development Center are having the Fifth Annual Inventors Tradeshow on Wednesday August 10, 2011 from 5 to 8:30 pm, and you are invited. In addition to members of the Houston Inventors Association, we have invited inventors from other surrounding areas. We have also invited representatives from local companies and organizations that help inventors solve problems and help businesses get started to answer questions and make presentations about their services. A partial list (which is subject to change) is:

  • University of Houston Small Business Development Center (UH-SBDC)
  • Houston Childrens Museum
  • Rice University Patent Library
  • Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE)
  • Bill McHenry of Envision Sales and Marketing
The show will be held at the Bayland Park Community Center Building, 6400 Bissonnet (Inside Bayland Park - one block west of Hillcroft) on Wednesday August 10, 2011. Set up for display tables starts at 4:30 pm. The show starts at 5:00 pm and lasts until 8:30 pm. Removal of displays needs to be done by 9:00 pm.

From 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm, in a separate room, we will have a question and answer session with a panel of HIA members and representatives who can answer questions related to the invention and marketing process.

There will be about 75 display tables. Some are 30" for one display and some are 60" for two displays. Tables need to be reserved in advance and a table number assigned to each participant. The UH SBDC will set up a registration page for people applying for display space. We will have display space for about 75 inventors. A few of the display tables will be reserved for the winners of the Children's Museum Young Inventors Showcase. This space will be titled Inventors of Tomorrow.

We will have a separate room for speakers from the various organizations to present their information and to tell attendees and inventors how their organization can help them. The speakers will start at 5:30 and end at 8:30. A list of speakers will be posted on the Houston Inventors web site. Each speaker will have 10 to 20 minutes each to tell attendees what their organization does and how it can help them. In addition to listening to speakers, participants can talk to the speakers from each organization one on one at their display table.

There is no cost to the organizations or inventors for the display tables and there is no cost for attendees to attend the show. Food will not be served. A vending machine for soft drinks is located in the kitchen area.
